FindWay — A Humanitarian Search Platform for a Fragmented World
Create
In recent years, the world has faced many humanitarian crises. Wars, forced migration, natural disasters, and economic instability have affected millions of people. Because of this, many families lose contact with relatives, people lose pets, vehicles, and important personal belongings.
This reality became the starting point for FindWay.
FindWay is a global humanitarian search platform. Its main goal is to help find missing people, animals, and essential belongings across different countries. The platform is designed for situations where time and visibility are critical.
Many existing solutions work only locally. They are limited to one country, difficult to use across borders, or slow to update. In crisis situations, this creates serious problems. Information is scattered, and people often do not know where to look or how to act.
FindWay was created as one international and multilingual platform. It allows users to quickly publish urgent cases and makes them visible to a wider community. The idea is simple: one place where information can spread fast and reach people who can help.
The scale of the problem is large. In Ukraine alone, more than 70,000 people are officially registered as missing. Similar situations exist in many regions affected by war, migration, or large-scale displacement. These are not rare cases. They happen every day.
FindWay focuses on real, practical use. The platform supports cross-border searches and can be used by individuals, volunteers, NGOs, and institutions. Community involvement plays a key role, because in many cases people on the ground are the first who can respond.
From the technical side, FindWay is built with modern and reliable technologies. The core platform is developed using Ruby on Rails, with PostgreSQL, AWS S3, and Docker for data storage and infrastructure. The focus is not on complex features, but on stability, scalability, and usability.
Planned next steps include mobile applications for iOS and Android, AI-based content moderation, and improved search tools. The platform is intended to grow gradually, based on real humanitarian needs, not hype.
FindWay is not just a technical project. It is a response to situations where existing systems fail people when they need help the most. Technology should reduce human suffering and make cooperation easier, especially in times of crisis. This idea is at the core of FindWay.
